Practice Policies
Financial Policy
Payment is expected at the time of service. We accept cash and checks. Our usual fee for an initial consultation is $165. For each subsequent hour, the charge is $150. Couples may want to meet for 90 minutes, for which we charge $225. Due to confidentiality reasons, we do not call to verify all appointments; therefore, *you are responsible for any missed appointments unless we receive 24 hours notice.
*The fee for missed appointments cannot be billed to your insurance company.
Insurance Claims
We attempt to verify your insurance benefits prior to your first session. However, you are ultimately responsible for the charges that you incur. Any charges denied by your insurance company will be billed to you. We file insurance claims within 24 hours of service delivery for insurance panels for which we are approved providers. If we do not participate as providers for your insurance company, we will expect you to pay our fees at the time of service and we will provide you a statement that you can file with your insurance company.
Managed Care
Some professionals in our practice participate on managed care panels. However, it is important that you verify with our office staff that they are still active participants on the panel before your first appointment. You should also review your insurance policy to be sure of the limits on the number of sessions you may have each year, as well as any deductible and copayment costs that are part of your coverage plan.
E-Mail Policy
E-mail is not confidential and we recommend that you use it only to make scheduling arrangements. Information regarding your treatment needs cannot be protected.
Charges for e-mail review: $25 per contact which will be charged to your debit or credit card on file.
Charges for phone calls and written correspondence: $25 per letter and for phone calls over 5 minutes.
Confidentiality Policy
Our practice is HIPAA compliant, which means that all your communications with our staff or any of our vendors is protected health information which cannot be released to any other party without your written authorization. This also means that we cannot verify any appointments via phone or e-mail without being certain of the identity of the client or a legal guardian. At the time that you register as a new client, please notify us in writing whom you authorize as a recipient of information about the services you receive in our office, including any health care professional or school.
Emergency Policy
Our practice is an out-patient practice and none of our staff have admitting privileges at local hospitals. We endeavor to return your routine phone calls within one business day, but if you are experiencing a psychiatric emergency you should contact the nearest hospital or your insurance company for further instructions.
